I personally could care less if the NCAA exists or not.
The part of the NCAA lawsuit that I don't like isn't about the NCAA losing power. I simply believe that enforcing a prohibition on paying recruits to come to a school would be good for college football. I think it's a good rule that should be enforced strongly. I'm disappointed that pay for play is going to be how it works in college football going forward.
If whatever organization runs college football could prevent any NIL contracts from having any conditions that effectively require a player to attend a particular college, I think it would fix 95% of the problems that exist with NIL.
I'm a bit disappointed that as soon as the NCAA tried to enforce that rule, the rule effectively got thrown away.
It's not the end of the world, but I think it's bad for the sport.

You sure didn't mind it when UGA was doing it under the table.

Sounds like communist talk to me.

Schools that stayed back in the NIL situation at the absolute beginning are learning more. No NIL deal will ever require going to a certain school, but they can require a certain amount of selective appearances that will make it hard to be at another school. They can even require living in an area. What good does it do MBOBR if Angel is driving her big body Benz somewhere outside of BR?

If UGA couldn’t pay players it wouldn’t have much of their roster. Walker was paid to attend UGA (1980 title and run) and Kirby is coaching a roster of paid players since he got to UGA. You don’t believe those recruiting classes are anything but bought do you? Pruitt half assed buying recruits that UGA paid full price for. Mimms was just one of dozens of bought and paid for recruits from those years.
fricking hypocrite.

It would fix it because boosters would no longer pay.
The only reason they are getting paid is to play football.

Schools were doing pay for play long before the NIL started. With the ENIL is just out in the open now. You don’t think Nick Saban given away all those Dodge chargers which everybody seen all over the Internet was not paid for play?

quote:It will only be a matter of time before companies uses the teams as ways of advertising (like they ruined bowl games). Then the teams will matter even less. Recruits now just about pick schools on NIL money over anything. The Parading of players like Dart getting to use jets is just a taste of what is to come. Its like boosters on steroids. The companies will be controlling the game by pushing money around or threatening to take it away.

The players will just follow money around and the companies will control the schools by giving them the money to pay for recruits. The NCAA will be irrelevant and take any deals the schools and companies offer to keep some power and help fund academics.
