If storming the basketball court continues, someone--whether a player or fan-- will be trampled and injured. I don't know the solution, but it should be banned. Also eliminating the traditional handshakes after the game, as someone has suggested, would be yet another surrender to poor sportsmanship, which is already on thin ice.

That has already happened multiple times in football and basketball. It can be stopped. Either by arresting fans or forfeiting the game. Or both. It is obvious fining the schools isn’t going to stop it.

If you really want to stop the storming the court/field, the only way is to impose a forfeit on the winning team. Kids don't care if the University has to pay a $100,000 fine, but they would care about a win changed to a loss.
