It won't matter.


UGA lost to UF with Mullen in 2000. Had there been a 12 team playoff, UGA would still have made the field.

UGA lost to a Muschamp led South Carolina team that finished with a losing record in 2019. Still would have made the playoff if it had 12 teams.

Lost to Auburn in 2017. LSU in 2018. Still would have made the playoffs both times. There's no spin needed with the 12 team playoff. It's either a sign the team isn't very good (which would be proven by more losses) or it's just an off game (which would be proven if they make the playoff anyway).

It literally will barely matter at all individually. Only their entire season performance will matter.


**edit** Now, the games coaches will be graded on will be the playoff performances. If UGA loses to Bama in the playoff, that would matter a lot. But the regular season matchup? Close to meaningless.
