The point is that it's the total that matters, not the individual games.

UGA goes 10-2 in the regular season and they make the playoff. It doesn't matter if they beat Alabama or not, just the final number of wins and losses. There's no real extra importance on the Bama game than UGA playing Clemson, Texas, Ole Miss or Tennessee.

We're moving into a different environment for CFB. Individual head to head matchups in the regular season will be meaningless.
