Alabama may have fallen short of the BCS National Championship Game, but fans of the Crimson Tide won a national championship anyway.

Nielsen has released TV ratings trends from the 2008 college football season and Alabama had the highest local rating among the top 10 BCS teams. A whopping 40.1 percent of households in the Birmingham viewing area tuned in to watch the Crimson Tide every week it played on TV.

Last Saturday's SEC Championship Game added another notch to what turned out to be - despite continued cries of too much college football on TV - a record-breaking year. The Tide-Gators showdown pulled in 15.1 million CBS viewers and 9.3 percent of the nation's households, making it the most watched SEC Championship Game ever and the highest rating for a non-bowl college game since 2006.

This will springboard us into our 2nd consecutive recruiting national championship and the eventual signing of RR, and every other SEC teams number one targeted recruit swapping their commitment to the Tide.

That is kind of misleading because every Auburn fan was tuning in also hoping they would lose.

Visit the Civil Rights museum?
Watch Birmingham's officials get arrested?
Watch Jefferson County's officials get arrested?

All it means is that lots of people got to watch Bama choke on national TV. Congrats! Fire up those t-shirt screen printers.

Touche'. But at least we'll end up ranked higher than Bama when it's all over. Have fun in your meaningless bowl game against the mighty Utes. I bet that one will be a real ratings grabber.
