LSU always liked playing gorilla ball, are your bats that good this year?

It won’t be the same as last year, but there is some promise for the offense. A lot will depend on if the highly esteemed rising sophomores (Paxton Kling, Jared Jones, Brady Neal) can hold their own in the lineup. Each showed flashes last year but dealt with injury or slumps or both. Those three I think are key to the fortunes of this offense and if they can put it all together than there’s no reason LSU can’t be in the discussion to repeat.

Jay will do whatever he needs to do to get the best bats in the lineup but I think he’ll be patient with those three in particular. Outside of that, Tommy White is back who will likely be a top 10 pick, and we also get back Hayden Travinski who has as much raw power as anyone in college baseball. Add in the transfers Mac Bingham from Arizona who figures to be a plug-and-play guy, and Michael Braswell from South Carolina whose swing they have tweaked to increase his fly ball rate over the summer and fall, and you get a an offense that likely won’t play as much long ball as last year but will certainly be able to get ‘em on and get ‘em across at a high level. Finding consistent ABs for your best bats, keeping guys healthy, and having those sophomores take the next step will be the biggest key for Jay and staff
