#1 QB recruit chooses Bama after Nick Saban tells him he has no plans to retire. Practices with Bama at its bowl game. Saban then retires.
Enters into transfer portal. Signs with Ohio State largely because of OSU's hire of BOB as offensive coordinator. The same BOB who originally recruited him with Saban to Alabama.
Now, BOB is apparently leaving OSU to go to Boston College.
This kid is a first-semester freshman and has already been through the ringer of college coaches.

Damn BoB at OSU was the best news of the offseason

This is why they should commit to a program and not a coach.

The kid dodged a bullet whether he realizes it or not. Doubt his new OC will have two WR's end up in the same part of the field/endzone as often as BoB did.

Julian Sayin probably made more money than me this year and he doesn't have a job and he hasn't played a down of college football. These "kids" can take the bad with the good like the rest of us.

Correct.
I don't like any of this as much as the next guy (and I do wish this kid well), but you just can't have your cake and eat it too in this new-look, big-boy college game.
Right or wrong, coaches (especially position coaches) are transient just like the players are.
Wait 'til some of these kids beg to be treated like employees, and then start complaining when they getting fired.

If he sticks around Columbus and wins the starting job in a year or two, he'll do just fine.

As a young player there was a certain coach i wanted to play for. Cant fault the young man but these unlimited transfers have got to stop for the welfare of both the players and the game.
Need to reinstate sitting a year unless there is a hardship proven.

This is where he went wrong.

He doesn't seem to be the staying around type...

No one forced him to do any of that stuff. He was more than welcome to try his hand at just being a regular college student or joining the workforce upon graduation.

Ryan Day isn't 80 like Saban.

Sucks to suck
Hopefully the kid learns a valuable lesson.

Committing to a coach has been going on for decades. We got all American Scott Woerner, a crucial part of our 1980 championship team, because Darrel Royal retired at Texas. Great coaches will always draw great players. And most of the time, it works out well.

OP started this thread just to post this attempt.

Bruh these kids are committing to NIL. There may be a few kids that go to a school because of Coach, hell Alabama benefitted from it while Saban was there and a few kids took less NiL to play for Saban but those days are done. NIL will rule CFB for the foreseeable future.
