Seriously, this is the problem for Tennessee. They are currently on probation for the violations that occurred under Jeremy Pruitt. The repeat violator deal could compound things.

The problem is that catching them as redhanded as they've ever caught anyone engaging in pay for play didn't even result in a bowl ban, just forced them to part with a coach they were likely to fire anyway. 20 years ago, they would have been crushed if they were caught paying twice in less than four years. Today, might be a slap on the wrist.

They also needed to be investigated for bribing officials. That 2022 Bama game was criminal, then against Georgia that same year Tennessee was tackled like five yards deep in the endzone and they said it wasn't a safety.

No doubt that those officials were bribed. Same as when they officiated the Auburn game this past year. Opposing teams’ boosters obviously are doing some shady stuff to take us down. That same crew officiated the game at Texas A&M in 2021.

The Times article notes that the NCAA doesn't like to use postseason bans as a punishment any more.
