Skip Bertman single-handedly not only created the equivalent of what Alabama was to college football, at LSu in college baseball but as a result of his success other sec schools began taking college baseball seriously as well.

Not quite. Ron Polk is the grandfather of SEC baseball and Bertman saw what he did at State in the late 70’s-mid 80’s and duplicated it at LSU and then took it to another level the 1990’s. Great amount of respect for Skip Bertman. Great coach and man but he did not do it single handily.

Polk and then later Bertman caused the rest of the SEC to make college baseball a major priority and the conference is much the better for it today.
