I think you meant if it weren't for the Gamecocks ... or maybe you're not familiar with all the South Carolinians to rush out there and fight for Texas' independence ..... you know, The Travis Letter ... you know he was a South Carolinian, right?

PS ETA: We're gearin' up to go again if Abbott calls on us to come help defend that fence against the feds.

Both Carolinas were well represented amongst the defenders. Tennessee earned that nickname. We are grateful for every man that fought there, at Goliad, San Jacinto and elsewhere. You can sort the attached by state/nation of origin. Important note is the number of Hispanic names on this list. Native born Tejanos were also fighting for Liberty against Santa Anna’s tyranny.
