Some of ya'll seem to think that the WR position is one where you just "coach it up" and "scheme" them open. It's not. And it's also not a position where you can just put some guy here and another guy here and = same results. You listed off all the receivers but what if all of those receivers are slot receivers and none are 1st or 2nd receivers? You can't coach up and scheme explosiveness or quickness.

Kalen DeBoer has a similar background to Mike Norvell at FSU. They're both small college wide receivers that were very good at their level. Nick Saban was renowned for his ability to coach defensive backs. He was a DB in college and coached DBs for many years before moving up the ladder. Kalen DeBoer may be somewhat similar with WRs. He knows the craft and he's taught it. His teams are consistently very productive at receiver.

I don't like making guarantees too often but I will make one regarding this new staff: we will get much better play from our WR contributors this year than we did in 2022 and 2023 despite losing our best returning receiver.

We're recruited all these sub-4.5 guys but they never seem to be able to get open unless it is a deep over. It is because Wiggins wasn't coaching these kids worth a damn. That's why the 2020 and 2021 classes bounced once it was clear this man wasn't going to turn them into Smitty or Waddle. You're going to see receivers that understand what they're trying to accomplish on plays: knowing who they need to attack or what space they need to find to get open; they're going to have cleaner technique.
