Hollum Wiggins is the quintessential recruiting coach. That's not a good position coach. That strategy worked well in the previous era, but with unrestricted transfers you can't just go out and stockpile a team full of overwhelmingly talented players that can win with just ability. Your highly talented players are going to be gone the next year if they don't get what they want, this is why I'm encouraged by the fact that we're getting a staff full of extremely good coaches that are able to maximize the production of the talent they have. We're not going to be able to rely on just out recruiting everybody because they're going to get bought out from under us these days, we got to be able to coach players up. Now that's not to say saving didn't have many great coaches on his staff over the years, but we've also had a ton of coaches like Wiggins that were substandard and there just for recruiting

Wiggins was a TERRIBLE position coach. Good recruiter but wasn’t worth a crap developing the WRs. The WRs were absolutely terrible at blocking, could not get open and usually did NOTHING to help the QB when he was trouble (e.g. Bryce would be under pressure, scrambling) and our WRs seldom would come back to him. Usually, they just kind of stood around and watched Bryce get sacked.

That is/was 100% on Wiggins.
