All you say is true so let me rephrase … trying to keep people from the basic rights to profit from their efforts to freely market their talents elsewhere should they so choose will not survive a court challenge in the 21st century.
how money changes hands via contract is highly regulated at every level. Explain to me how an nil cooperative and a player can enter into a contract, where the consideration for the cooperative is in fact a player playing for the school tied to the cooperative vs the cooperative actually securing nil rights that justify the payments to the player. In that case an entity other than the party to the contact is receiving the consideration. That's called fraud.
It would be extremely easy to prove in court that the nil value of a given player does not come close to the $ being given to them. Just because the supreme Court said the players can sign nil deals doesn't mean the law gets thrown out the window. These nil cooperatives are legally suspect and possibly fraudulent. I can easily see how they could be used to launder money for one thing. There are many ways this could be attacked, but it's going to take someone with standing to bring suits or a state justice department to do so. Maybe what's happened to Alabama will prompt the Alabama attorney general to litigate it

This X100. Ideal vehicle to wash dirty money. It will probably take a few of these teenagers getting used and thrown away like trash to get this looked at legally. A good investigative journalist will make a name for himself blowing the lid off this thing.

God no, you don’t want Alabama’s attorney general within 900 miles of this thing.

Again I don’t disagree with you. But reining in the cooperatives, which are caca, will not change IMO the basic right moving forward of the players to be compensated and, most importantly, take their services elsewhere should they so choose. The fix for this IMO would be binding agreements on both the school and the players where both sides have input into the contractual obligations and stipulations.

Too many people think this can be returned to the days where the players were basically gladiators performing for the fans’ entertainment with no voice in the process and no compensation other than getting their schooling paid for, THAT is the genie that ain’t going back into the bottle.
