I think our success in 2024 will hinge entirely on our offensive line.

Defense will take a step back initially, particularly in the secondary. I have hopes our front six / seven will be good to very good. A lot hinges on the progress made by guys like James Smith and Damon Payne, as well as how effectively we can transition to a four-man front. We need one of Robinson / Koht / Alexander / Keeley / Pierre to become an effective rush end for us, and good injury luck in our LB corps.

IF Domani Jackson can take one corner spot, and IF we get the CB from Washington, we'll be in decent shape in the secondary. Having Malachi back will help tremendously; he can serve as the field general back there.

We'll need the offense to shoulder the load as the defense gels, though, and that will require the offensive line to be VASTLY improved over 2023. Getting the center from Washington would be huge, and finding a good LT (either on the roster or through the portal) is a must.

Milroe will need to significantly improve his processing speed and his accuracy on short / intermediate throws and ACTUALLY TAKE THEM WHEN THEY'RE AVAILABLE. If he doesn't, I see Simpson (and possibly Lonergan) getting the starting role, and Milroe having a package to run as a change of pace.

I'm nervous about the defense, at least initially, but I'm excited about the potential of the offense -- assuming we can get our O-line squared away.

If the roster as currently constructed remains then I think we can add pieces to supplement it and be pretty good in 2024. We will definitely need a lucky health year in some spots, but the starting 22 will be good. However, we got a long way to go before we know about the roster.

The QB battle will be interesting for 100 different reasons.

One of the things most seem to be ignoring is that we return a legitimate 2-deep of starting caliber guys up front along with elite young edge guys and 2 experienced, talented inside linebackers. That's a big arse deal in this league............AS LONG AS THEY ARE ALL STILL HERE IN 20 DAYS.

As a man in his 40s I am ineffably upset about a 19 year old kid leaving Bama and I have to reflect on why that is and not get so upset. I have never been so pissed about a kid transferring out in my life.
