You do realize a Power 4 team who is NOT a conference champion must be in the Top 11 not Top 12. That's because the G5 team that must make the CFP will likely NOT be in the top 12.
So, SEC teams wanting to make the CFP in 2024 are aiming first to be SEC Champions and second to be Top 11.

One of the reasons I mentioned the automatic bid part.
Can the G5 be unranked and still get a spot? Is it a guarantee no matter what? Genuinely asking...I do not know.

“The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the six highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The top four teams will receive a first-round bye to the quarterfinals.
The six highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format.”

SEC, B1G, ACC, Big 12 champs get in along with TWO shite conference champs now that PAC-12 is gone.
Then the rest are the highest ranked teams who didn’t win a conference.
