Absolute worst time for Saban to retire. Probably going to cost Alabama a playoff berth next year.

This is really dumb.

I’m not a rocket scientist, but I do live in Huntsville, and by my calculations it appears that a 12 team playoff gives you a 66.6% higher chance to make it than a 4 team playoff. So statistically it’s the absolute best time for Saban to retire and not cost Alabama a shot at the playoffs.

TRob - there is/was a serious concern with the TRob as DC situation. I don't think TRob has ever been THE GUY to build a staff. That is something De Boer wants, his DC to sellect/build the defensive team.

I am not sure if having him learn how to build a defensive team was the best option for Alabama.

When would it have ever been a good time?

He obviously didn't have the fire anymore. We've all seen the last 3 years where the offense is a complete cluster f*** or the defense can't finish games.

If he continued the program would have diminished slowly but surely and when he left it might have looked like Bowden at FSU.

He left with a championship caliber roster still here. He could have selfishly held on but he didn't. The man should be commended for how he left.
