Milroe us a hard worker and has the physical tools to be a very good QB. The question is will he continue develop or is he what he is at this point.
DeBoer gets a lot of praise for his QB development, but Penix was starting before he came to Indiana. He then worked as an OC under another QB guru in Tedford and took over a talented Fresno team.
At US he had a Penix that was coached for 3 of his 4 years by someone else. He was already a super senior by the time he got to UW.
Also, plenty of coaches have ridden the backs of once in a lifetime QBs only to fall flat. Hallman road ok then back of Favre and then we all know his disaster at LSU. Sumlin with Manziel was another. Hell, Crowton rode Tim Rattay in his time at Tech who was a developed guy and it was his MO throughout his career.
In the end, DeBoer could turn out to be one of the best coaches around, or he could be a complete bust with such limited data at the FBS level as a head coach. We will see, but I think Bama made a good bet with a high risk but high reward guy.
