Honestly what sucks in all this. After watching the interview with Saban I really thought there would be a plan in place to replace the GOAT. Looks and sounds like there was no plan and he knew about 3 minutes before he walked in to tell everyone.

Everybody related to Bama hiring f up. including CNS
We should have had a coach in waiting

This is as comical as 2007. So when people said then that no coach wants Bama job then due to decline of program then ... complete lie. Bama is not an attractive place for family of coaches. Why would Sark wife leave Austin for T town.

Certainly there is a plan. But it is fluid because coaches we thought were great now suck and others emerge from nowhere.

It would have been better if Saban would have just postponed the players meeting for a week and told Byrne that he was for sure retiring. Put a lot of pressure on him to get something done quickly.

Dabo would not be my first choice but it would not be bad choice either.

My concerns with Dabo revolve around two things. First can he handle the pressure of the fans, alum/boosters, and the expectations at UA. Clemson that is not really there. The other is the what seems to b his lack of desire to deal with NIL and the transfer portal. With that said I have a good friend that is an alum/booster there and he said it is not him not wanting to but he is frustrated because there is very little support for it from the boosters. The school my friend also said that Clemson is not very supportive of transfer either and I know academically it can be hard to transfer in. But I also know he is an old school type of coach like Saban who did not like either as well.

The positives though for Dabo is he can coach on the field in my opinion. The players that play for hm love him. He seems to maintain the same type of control on and off the field in to the players like Saban. He definitely can recruit in the south and elsewhere. He also has done really well with the talent he has considering his recruiiting classes usually not top 5(not sure how many he has had).

The one positive though for Dabo is if he came to UA he would want it to be his last stop and retire here. There is not another coach, with the exception of maybe Kiffin, that might not get an itch for the NFL or when things were rough at times would not possibly jump ship. He would ride it out.
