Per Twitter, Mizzou was prepared to match LSU's offer so I guess they thought he was worth 2.5 as well.

It’s unlikely that he is, especially versus the market. He isn’t the best defensive coordinator in the country, without even factoring in the buyout.
Mizzou made an irrational counter, IMO. But it’s good to offer, if for no other reason than showing you can.
