There is where the problem is, especially this year. I saw an article after the playoff selection. According to the CFB committee rules they are only required to generate the last poll which determines who gets into the playoffs. It was all they were set up to create. They were suppose to meet each week like they were doing but not release weekly polls. Apparently ESPN pushed for them to make the other polls to create the TV show and improve ratings. They did it that but it was to have no meaning outside of creating entertainment.

If they as designed only created the final poll I wonder how much controversy there would be like there is now. People could still question them excluding FSU but they would not be able to use the previous polls to argue about movement within.
