Even though the def of alum is so all inclusive as previously quoted, terms normally used are “former student” vs alum (as in graduate or at least completed a program). Some people finish their pre-reqs and then move on to nursing school or another professional school and in that case I have no issue with them referring to themselves as an alum. But for any Joe Blow who failed or flamed out of college is an embarrassment to the common use of the term.

Which is why the term "graduate" is used. I worked at two universities. We did not distinguish alums by if they had a degree or not. They could still be members of the alumni association. They were still listed as alumni. You dont know when/if someone is going to come back and finish their degree, they are still part of that class they started with

This dude (present suspensions aside) keeps grinding.
He was the first early departure surprise for Saban at Bama. He went on to be a first-round pick and is sitting at 13 years in the league as a secondary player. It's not been full of pro bowls and eye-popping stats, but damn impressive nonetheless.

Pfft, has to be due to cheating. Or refs.

Cliff Notes, we're the best.

Kind of makes what Alabama has accomplished slightly less impressive.
Honestly, it seems like they're under achieving quite a bit relative to talent on the roster.

Impressive for Alabama.
I was interested in the “alumni” discussion. In the past this was only used to refer to those that graduated from an institution. While it is true that the Webster’s definition now states that attendees at a college may be called “alumni”, the Cambridge definition of alumni describes them as people that have completed their studies at an institution.
Makes me wonder if fund raising (money) was a big factor in expanding this definition.

Nick has certainly underachieved imo - we should have one at least two more NCs - first it was over training that blew outback’s then it was keeping bad coordinators too long.
That said he’s still the goat.

And it’s much easier to coach the best talent

I don't know whether to envy or pity ya'll. For all the success he's had you only seem to focus on the ones that got away. You might as well quit following Alabama football when he decides to hang it up.
