I absolutely think letting him go this year was the right thing to do.

O line play was horrible and he wasn't changing the coach. The offense looked much snappier with the exit of Fisher. That means Petrino was clearly muzzled and then he was able to do his thing. Couple that with a 3rd string QB.

Yes, we will have defections. But we now have exited a coaching situation of stagnation and lethargy. Elko brings excitement.

Had to be done.

Most of those players stuck around this year on promises that last year was the anomaly. This year proved it wasn't. The transfer portal situation we are seeing now would have happened with or without Jimbo, and honestly, I dont blame them. Elite players don't sign up for 4 years of mediocrity. Most have 2 years left, they're going to try to go somewhere with a shot to compete now.

At least without Jimbo, we can started building for the next phase of the program.
