My point was most of the UGA fans bitching are doing so cause of that play. “Why didn’t the ref review it!!?” I don’t know, why didn’t Kirby challenge it.

I know a couple of referees, one of whom also runs the review monitors for some AAC games and has the button to page down to the officials on the field to stop the game. It’s a small circle of people that either ref or work in support roles like this and he said everyone he talked to said the review official blew it there. They are supposed to stop play any time there is any ambiguity.

Being an official himself for HS, this guy doesn’t ever throw other officials under the bus unless they are 100% wrong. They tend to take up for each other, or at least justify when there is a mistake.

The review official who makes that call in the both has a large monitor with the 4 best general camera angles and has every play on immediate replay. He should have seen enough to stop play and take a closer look.

All that said and as big of a mistake as this was, all UGA had to do was not turn the ball over and not get a stupid arse penalty that cost them a FG.

Exactly this. Those two plays cost us dearly and both were self inflicted.

People complain about officials all the time, but there has never been a perfect game called and there never will be. We have been very disciplined for the vast part of the year, but made two costly errors when it counted most.
