No it’s not, the rules explicitly dictate it’s what needs to happen when an injury results in a prospective team becoming no longer competitive as clearly happened here.

So to be clear, did you watch the Alabama - Auburn game and think that Alabama was a playoff competitive team?
I’m just trying to figure out when the eye test matters and when it doesn’t
