The 4 best amongst a group of most deserving.

That has always been the real criteria of the committee, even if they won’t explicitly say it. And the cut off to make the group of “most deserving” evolves and is dependent upon everyone else year to year.
It’s why Alabama was never getting in last year, and maxed out at number 5, because with 2 losses they didn’t fit in a group of most deserving. And it’s why Georgia was placed at 6 and OSU at 7 this year, even though both would trounce FSU.
There were 5 teams that met this year’s version of “most deserving” and then they picked the best 4 teams amongst them.
In some previous years, you had a lot of chaos and conference titles weren’t a strict requirement to make the most deserving group, but this year they were.
So yes, The 4 best amongst an evolving group of most deserving is what the committee does every year.

bullshite. If this were the case UGA would be in. They just had to give bama yet another undeserved and unearned mulligan.

Nice retort you piece of shite

Four best? Minus UGA, yes. Four most deserving? No.

I know the louisiana reading comprehension is low….
But if you COULD read you’d understand my point that the group of “most deserving” included Mich, Wash, Texas, FSU, and Bama, and then they selected the best four teams amongst that group.
Georgia and Ohio State was excluded from that group because of head-to-head losses and no conference championships.
If the committee was literally selecting the best four teams who could win it, the your 4 would be michigan, texas, bama, and georgia, with ohio state debating for the last spot.

So of the 5 remaining teams, Alabama, based on its resume, should be a solid #5.
Nick Saban, the ambulance chaser, managed to convince the committee to oust an undefeated #3 FSU that has a better resume.
FSU earned a slot on the field of play. Period!
I called him an ambulance chaser because he is trying to exploit the injury of one athlete in the name of self interest.
Saban should be ashamed of himself for latching on to the sleazy ESPN narrative.

FSU does not have a better resume. Their SOS is #55. Alabamas is #5. What do you not understand. Play in a better league or a stronger schedule.

This is correct.
You can check all the boxes to get into Harvard, and still not get into Harvard.

Can’t believe Bama fans are still melting.

I’m not sure why this remains so complicated. They look at SOR, SOS, head to head, conference championships, and obvious X factors that will affect a team’s performance (such as player injuries or coaching absences).
FSU edged out Alabama in only one of those criteria, and only by one spot (SOR).

Undefeated trumps one loss.
FSU played better against a common opponent.
FSU beat 8 bowl teams.
The ACC had a winning head to head record against the SEC this year.
Alabama looked like dog crap in several games.
Pushing an undefeated team out of a top 4 slot after they beat a ranked team in their conference championship game defeats every ethical and traditional aspect of college athletics.
FSU earned a slot on the field of play.

ESPN couldn’t afford another low ratings playoffs. So, the criteria changed this year.

I didn't see Liberty in the final four.

Why did you cut out the few key words that completed my point?

ACC just found out they’ve been relegated to C-USA status.

TCU made it in under the “most deserving” category last year, and it cost ESPN tens of millions. That wasn’t going to be allowed again.

Bama beat the CFP #1 team; 2-time defending national champion; w/29 game winning streak; to become the SEC Champions. Beat Georgia and could have scored again at the end of the game, but opted to take a mercy knee instead.

Folks on here want to reward playing a weaker schedule.
It's a sad thing to see, but it is what it is.
