The playoff winner could play 4 games in the playoffs. Add that to the 12 game regular season and a conference championship, you play 17 games

You’re overthinking this. D2 and D3 already do this along with every high school in America.

The BCS system was designed to favor a certain group of teams. How we have allowed it to exist this long is mind boggling. For as many times as Auburn has been screwed by these clowns, I can’t believe any Auburn fan would be in favor of keeping the current system.

Other than 2004, I can’t possibly think of a situation where Auburn was screwed by the playoff situation.

And I am not necessarily in favor of either system. But I am able to take my blue and orange goggles off in order to look at what has happened.

This is the correct answer. I played D2 ball. We had a 16 team playoff. The country was divided into 4 regions. The top four teams in each region got in. In each region, 1 played 4, 2 played 3. Then, those winners played. After that, we played the winner of another region. The two left standing faces off in the championship game. Four game playoff to win the national championship.

They have expanded since I played, but the basic premise is the same.

FCS does something similar.

They could draw it up tomorrow. But, there is one small thing standing in their way. Big money. There is big money that is tied to these bowl games and these schools. I believe that the money men are the ones making this needlessly difficult.
