Maybe Alabama is one the best five teams but this year they did not earn being one of the four best teams.
1. If you play in the sec you get points because previous years.
2. If the team's QB gets hurt they drop spots.
It's the MO of Bama under Saban. Special rules made up almost every year in their favor.
