Can’t imagine that with Freeze seemingly taking over the playcalling, there’s much of a role for him.

With early signing day and portal, I don’t think staff changes are going to happen until after that.

I have no problem with him. It just depends on if he wants to stay if Freeze takes over play calling.
If Freeze not calling plays is what it takes to reel in these classes, then I hope he finds someone who can do it for him. I think acquiring talent is more important than play calling. Bama, UGA, LSU don't win because they are coaching geniuses - they win because they have better players (by far) than anyone else. Yaw yaw's national title in 2019 proves this.
I've never been a coach, but I remember when Gus was switching back and forth. He said he wanted to give it up because game planning and film sessions take up your whole day throughout the week. You can't focus on anything else like crootin.

Freeze calls plays, hire dell as OC. Or D Craig.

I think Freeze has to call plays…work harder and do both. The time on recruiting is more about the boosters, just invite them into film review, and tell ‘em to keep cutting the checks. Money gets players and always has…you just have to make the money men feel loved.

It will primarily be up to Monty and if he accepts the diminished role.

Musical chair Monty needs to find a new chair elsewhere.
I can see some back and forth between two quarterbacks, within reason for a short while, however he'd still be stutter stepping pace and going 3-n-out if left to his own design.

I concur, until the bowls are out of the way ......don't make a move.
There is a wide receiver out there that is connected to a coach that is now out of work .......we need that recruiting capability and the receiver .....

I highly doubt the musical chairs at QB was Monty's idea or preference. That offensive plan was mutually designed by Hugh and the offensive staff, predicated largely on Hugh's desire to keep Robby involved. Hugh said as much, repeatedly during the first half of the season: "Robbie has to get his touches". It just didn't work out, and I think more than likely what happened, is Hugh walked in and said "this offensive plan [which we mutually came up with] is not working, here's what we're going to try going forward."
It is a little ironic that early in the season, Hugh was specifically calling Robby's package, yet that's the part that was ultimately abandoned (although he did give a lot of those same plays to Thorne).
Hugh obviously did get more involved with the playcalling and offensive plan, but he's been clear that calling plays has been a collaborative effort between him, Monty, and even Jake Thornton.
Monty is a very good offensive coach, but he may or may not be the right fit for this program. I'm absolutely not pinning all of our early woes on him, though. It's more likely that the original plan just didn't pan out.
