CFP Criteria per their website

quote:
The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members’ evaluation of the teams’ performance on the field, using:
A. conference championships won
B. strength of schedule
C. head-to-head results
D. comparison of results against common opponents
…to decide among teams that are comparable.
So how does each team match up against the other using these variables?
Texas vs Bama: Texas Winner
Both possible conf champions
Bama 3-1 vs ranked teams, Texas 2-1
Texas has head to head win by 10
No common opponents
Texas vs Oregon: Texas Winner
Both possible conf champions
Texas 2-1 vs ranked teams, Oregon 1-1
No head to head matchup
Texas beat common opponent Texas Tech by 50, Oreg by 8
Texas vs Ohio St: Texas Winner
Texas possible conf champ, OSU eliminated
Both 2-1 vs ranked teams
No head to head
No common opps
Bama vs Oregon: Bama winner
Both possible conf champions
Bama 3-1 vs ranked teams, Oreg 1-1
No head to head
No common opponents
Bama vs Ohio St: Bama winner
Bama possible conf champ, OSU eliminated
Bama 3-1 vs ranked teams, OSU 2-1
No head to head
No common opponents
Oregon vs Ohio St: Ohio St Winner
Oregon possible conf champ, OSU eliminated
OSU 2-1 vs ranked teams, Oreg 1-1
No head to head
No common opponents
Based on these comparisons using their own criteria, it would stand to reason the 1-loss ranked teams should currently be ranked in this order:
Texas
Bama
Ohio St
Oreg

Pac send off year. No way they are out
Committee will throw out the criteria.
If all win, it should be Bama, UTx, them Oregon. But that is not reflected in any poll so far, even with tOSU in there.
Honestly, after where Bama was at at Week 3, I'm happy with just the shot of a CCG. The CFPs is just candy

Texas conference champ against #19
Bama conference champ against #1
This matters.
UGA win way more valuable
Bama conference champ against #1
This matters.
UGA win way more valuable

Also UGA is being valued very high by the committee.
Missouri is at #9 (1 spot behind Bama) with a loss to #13 (Bama beat) and a loss to #1.
Missouris loss to UGA basically didn’t even count.
Bama has a loss to #7 and is at #8 with a win over #11 and #13. A win over #1 and we are easily in.
Keep this is mind as well. Ohio State is at #6 with a loss to #2. If Ohio State lost another game to someone #10-15 do you think they would be sitting at #9 like Missouri?
No they would be lower. UGA is being valued as almost double any other team. This is critical.

Look at my logic though. They left Bama at #8 on purpose. It’s all a delusion to give the other teams hope.
An UGA win is valued a lot

Every team that has beaten a CFP #1 either jumped 4 spots or moved to #1 themselves.

Bama would end up with 1 ranked win more than Texas, however Texas would still have the head to head
Comes down to do they value head to head more than schedule or vice versa I suppose. I personally think they would
Also, if Bama and Oregon were to win out, how would Texas compare to a 1 loss UGA and 1 loss Wash?
Texas vs UGA: Texas winner
Texas conf champ, UGA no
Texas 3-1 vs ranked teams, UGA 3-1
No head to head
Texas beat common opponent Bama by 10, UGA lost by ?
Texas vs Wash: Texas Winner
Texas Conf Champ, Wash no
Texas 3-1 ranked wins, Wash 3-1
No head to head
No common opponent

Clearly they don't or Ole Miss would be above Mizzou

From their website, their “principles”
Unless they show otherwise vs Louisville, the last criteria should put FSU much lower in the rankings.
quote:
The selection committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering: Conference championships won, Strength of schedule, Head-to-head competition, Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and, Other relevant factors such as unavailability of key players and coaches that may have affected a team’s performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.
Unless they show otherwise vs Louisville, the last criteria should put FSU much lower in the rankings.

They will not over look the fact Texas beat Bama at Bama but 2 scores.

Well you could argue that if Bama beats Georgia, the. Texas’ win over Bama is that much better. Could make the argument that THAT is the best win of the year by any team.

I’ve been saying this for weeks. If the committee actually uses its criteria under the condition that Bama beats UGA and Oregon beats Washington and that’s it, it would likely be
Michigan
FSU
Texas
Bama

So, if I'm understanding this chart, there are only 8/32 chances Dawgs don't make it.

Possible Top 4 rankings based on games.
Why they chose this order/format.....

Looks like a top 4 predictor based off every possible outcome on championship weekend
