Actually, if you look at what happened to TCU last year..?? They lost their conference championship and still got in. I remember some talk about the presidence being that a team that ran the table shouldn't be 'penalized' for losing an 'extra game', or something. What would be different if we lost to Bama?

TCU got in because multiple P5 champs + Notre Dame had 2+ losses.

TCU got in last year because there were literally no other 1 loss teams to choose from. The next 2 teams in teh pecking order were bama nad UT, both of which lost 2 games and didn't win a championship. Had USC won the PAC they would be in over TCU, but they lost.

the fact that, unlike what I just said above, there are teams with 1 loss that would be in the disucssionwith us, including a 1-loss P5 champ in texas (presumably).
