Stoops has won 2 games in 11 years against SEC teams that finished above .500 in conference play. Boom!
Then why did Bjork try to hire him away from UK?

I like the Elko hire but that is strange.

The thing that is the most confusing to me is how "awful" a lot of A&M folks seemed to think hiring Stoops would be but the same people are ecstatic at Elko?

I get that maybe they think Elko has a higher ceiling (based on what exactly I don't really know) and that they are familiar with him, but Stoops at a place where he can sign Top 10 classes everywhere could be a very good program. Is his ceiling lower than you might want? I can see that, but I can also see a guy who gets more explosive players and consistently wins 9-10 games.

Elko could do the same thing, but it's just weird how similar they seem to be style wise and all that and the total 180 in reactions to them. I mean Stoops and his staff (especially Marrow) have proven to be very solid recruiters. In the SEC, recruiting against tier 2 SEC programs and tier 1B B1G programs........outside their state. Elko's big conference recruiting chops are basically TBD.

I think it’s the illusion that Kentucky has been winning but most of their wins are vandy and ooc. They also say how terrible Louisville is, yet it’s typically their best win.
