Honest assessment of Coach Prime’s first year

I know there was a hiccup or 2(Halftime Stanford lead). I think he did a fairly good job considering what he walked into. He won 3 more games than last year and created a buzz around the program that hasn’t been seen since the early 90’s. I will be interested to see what they do against Utah and how year #2 goes for him. Thoughts?

My assessment is that he doesn't coach an SEC team

True. He may in the near future if he continues on an upward trend.

Certainly improved, we’ll see if he can build on it. I suspect next year is his last at Colorado.

He won three more games because he brought in more talent which is part of the equation but let’s not act like he took the same roster and coached them up.

He’s awful just like I said before the season. Colorado remains irrelevant

Assessment - Colorado didn’t win much after the TCU game. How impressive does that win look now?
He throws a lot of kids (not named Sanders) under the bus.
In hindsight, telling so many kids (almost the entire roster) to take a hike… wasn’t as brilliant as he thought.

Oh I know. The last guy didn’t do it. Give the man credit.

I think he’ll bolt once his sons are done playing

The luster of his "signature opening day win" has definitely faded.

He needs to make in game adjustments. He stands there for 3 hours with his arms folded and mic flipped it. It’s crazy to witness ha. He’s one of the greatest nfl players ever but needs to learn how to actually build talent and coach. He also never answers any question the media asks him about schemes it’s wild. Don’t really see how it gets better in b12. 65th recruiting class or something.

I see what he was trying to do. He was trying to change the culture…. he just does it differently than Saban does. Saban was 7-6 and lost to La Monroe his first year at Bama. Saban had to run off the Keith browns and dj halls of the world. Next year will be interesting

If he does, it will be for about as long as Bryan Harsin, and it will end just as badly.
He is a great recruiter (and might actually be a good OC), not a great head coach at the elite D-1 level.

He did what he needed to do. Colorado is a better team than they were last year. I suspect year 2 will be a 9-10 win season. He is building a juggernaut. The consensus on this board is he doing with his sons and after next year he’s leaving for greener pastures. I don’t see it that way. He’s got one of the top quarterbacks in the nation committed. He’s going to get any recruit he wants from Texas, Georgia and Florida. By year three he will compete for a national championship.

Colorado was a bad job. He just wanted out of Jackson. The players would get their cars broken into during the home games…lol

Ha ya I mean next year will be big for them. Interesting to see where their recruiting lands too because you need a healthy mix of transfer kids and committed hs recruits that want to be there. Isn’t there something unique about Texas where the hs coaches have huge sway over where recruits go or something ? Only asking bc I know once Will Stein came to Oregon he got Texas kids we never used to. He had a connection to hs there and then stayed that way through USTA. Deion can only run on hype for so long imo before kids who are good go to programs they know they can instantly win at. CO isn’t a storied program like any SEC school really where they have low points but the brand is still so huge. Take Auburn for instance. Struggling now but they won’t forever.
