In my mind, offers mean more than stars. If a player has offers from UGA, Bama, OSU and a couple of other good schools, he's a highly valued recruit, regardless of the number of stars. If he's missing some of those as a 5-star, I'm not sure I buy the ranking.

I agree having an offer from LSU, Ohio St, and Georgia says a lot about the kid especially if they are a 3 or low 4 star but what we don't know is if that is a commitable offer or not. For Example, PJ Woodland (LSU CB commit) is a 3 star commit with an impressive offer list but let's say he tells Florida St he wants to commit will the Noles accept his commitment. Stars do matter but definitely not the main thing we should look at

Not all 5* are the same; The transition of some skill players from HS to college is much easier than OL. Big & mean HS thugs may have the ratings based on overpowering inferior talent, but if you don't have good footwork and balance, P5 opponents will clean your clock.

In the last 3 years, there have been 5* and high 4* players that Texas would not sign, including a 2024 Texas top 5 kid.

Talent isn't the issue. They may have been offered by Texas early in the process, or even committed at one point, but at the end, Texas would not take them.

Everybody says character matters; consider the source.
