Fans are short sighted. The coaches know much better. The only thing A&M lacks is a coach. And our NIL is better than most schools to boot

You have had some good coaches. One great coach. You have had multiple coaches that have played for or won championships at other stops. Why couldn’t those same coaches that were so successful elsewhere not have the same success at A&M? Since 1954, here are coaches that have won or played for championships elsewhere. You have obviously have had some good coaches. And they couldn’t make it work at A&M. Maybe there are deeper issues? Besides national championship winning coach Jimbo Fisher, A&M has also had the following coaches among others.

Bear Bryant (everyone knows about Bear Bryant)

Gene Stallings only had one winning season in seven seasons at A&M; in seven seasons at Alabama he never had a losing record, won the SEC west 4 out of 7 seasons, finished top 5 three times and won a national championship.

Jackie Sherrill went 50-9-1 at Pitt, finished in the top 10 in 4 of his 5 seasons there; finished 2nd his last two seasons there, played for a national championship; he went to A&M and in 7 seasons he was .500 or below two of them, his highest finish was 6th.

R.C Slocumb was only a head coach at A&M. He was successful with a record of 123-47-2. But even with that success, his best finish was 6th. He had two top 10 finishes in 14 years.

Mike Sherman was also only a college head coach at A&M. In four seasons he was .500 or below in three of them. His only other year he finished ranked 21st. His overall record was 25-25. However, as an NFL coach he was 57-39. In six seasons he won the NFC north 3 times and made the playoffs 4 of 6 seasons.

Maybe it isn’t just that you haven’t had good coaches. Because it looks like you have had some good to great coaches. And even they couldn’t do what you demand, win a national championship. But this time will be different.
