Yeah, and you had almost a 20 year drought in the middle of it. You guys have always had the best coaches in the game to get it accomplished for you. You can honestly say that is not the same case for LSU. Can you win national championships that frequently with coaches not having the caliber of the bear or Saban? Time will tell. Maybe you’ll luck up a third time and go find the next great one. But doubt that is back to back hires.

We won national championships with lesser coaches so I would say yes

You mean these guys? Those are their overall college coaching records for reference.

Harold Drew 98-68-14
Ears Whitworth 26-51-14
Ray Perkins 34-24-1
Bill Curry 93-128-4
Mike Dubose 57-33
Dennis Franchione 213-135-2
Mike Shula 10-23

That is a real murderers row of coaches. Yes, Alabama has had Wallace Wade, Bear Bryant, Gene Stalling, and Nick Saban. But they have also had those guys above for a significant amount of the program’s history.

Despite the crap coaches, Alabama still leads LSU 55-27-5. And five different coaches have won national championships at Alabama. In addition to Bryant and Saban; Wade, Thomas and Stallings each won at least one. Even more miraculously, every coach post Bryant that coached a full season had at least one 10 win season.
