I get the money aspect but building the arena shows that Alabama is serious about basketball to the rest of the nation. It's a bad look to be the brand that Alabama is and has one of the worst venues in the conference.

Exactly. Oats is at the school that has the greatest football program in college football history. If we don’t do everything we can to get him a new arena, yet keep doing renovations to BDS, it’s like we’re telling him that he’s second fiddle. We need to be serious about it because this is our chance to reach our potential as a basketball program.

Oats is on record as saying he’d take NiL over a new arena. We should easily be able to do both. Over 50 years of college athletics being major business and the players are just now getting paid. Time to pony up some of that money for the 500 shirts and100s of tickets I’ve bought to games.

Build the damn thing

If we lose Oats to UK, we may have no one to blame but ourselves. We keep dumping money into BDS, yet continue pushing off doing anything with Coleman. Been some lip service, but nothing more.
Just note that a new basketball arena not only affects men's basketball, but women's, too. Along with gymnastics and possibly volleyball. And graduation ceremonies.
