I think it mainly has to do with game pace. For everything Alabama does offensively to speed up gameplay, they also want to speed up the opponents as well on their offensive end because he feels like in a hurried up game we will always be the better prepared team for that style. Zone defense when played right grinds down pace and doesn't lend itself to a lot of bleed outs on rebounds, steals, etc. you just end up in a half court game.

When the D plays extra hard the legs become weary which affects our O. Especially on the outside shots. Anyone BB guru want to comment. I am theorizing before some of you call me out.
