The one year Pearl made a run at Auburn, they had that undersized little spark plug of a guard who really was the straw that stirred the drink so to speak.
He's a great coach but for whatever reason he rarely seems to have a point guard who you know is his guy to find baskets on his own or by getting his teammates open in crunch time. I think part of it is he's a big believer in generous rotations. Hard to develop your go-to point when you're just playing whoever has the hot hand all season and keeping the minutes/game in the mid 20s.

I think what hurts AU the most is their weak scheduling in the off-season. It doesn't really prepare them for the Tourney. The only thing it does is pad their wins column

Everyone forgets that they very well should have lost the first round.
Guy for NM State shooting 3 free-throw s with 1 second left,, down 2 points, only makes 1 of 3 for the one point loss.
NM State even got off another shot yet missed for the win.
