Responding to the posts since my last one I can only tell you that I heard things all the time as a player that didn’t have anything to do with why we played or didn’t play well. Played through high school. Coached for fun only at different levels including intramural college.

One of the best examples I can remember is before a game the older adults were having a convo about the team we were about to play and what we thought we would do and some of us said we believed we would beat them by 30. We were told we were overconfident and did not have a good attitude and would suffer from it in some way. And we won by more than 30. It was because we had the more talented players and executed the game plan with good coaching. It wasn’t like we went into the game and turned a dial and said well we are going to play at a 60% level this game because the other team isn’t that good. So we are just going to sleep walk through this. Or that players somehow play “harder” if the other team said some negative stuff about you or your team. You should already be playing your best and giving your best effort regardless what the other team says or doesn’t say. Playing your best is just how disciplined players operate but of course that doesn’t mean you are always going to win, now matter how much discipline or confidence that you have.

And in the case of the Arkansas football program just taking the 2023 season we were 9th out of the 14 in the rank of our recruiting class. We will most likely never be in the top tier. And even with a great coach that “coaching up” only gets you so far even if your confidence level is #1 in the SEC. And remember CSP tells us each week how hard everyone plays and is seemingly playing their best but that hasn’t been worth many wins.

I agree you have to focused and have your head in the game as a player, and that applies to pretty much every job you undertake in life, but you’ll never convince me that all the Ra Ra stuff and pomp and circumstance has much to do with a team’s performance or lack thereof at least in the case of disciplined players-certainly not at the college and pro levels of play. I do think that fans latch on to the other things in attempts to explain a team’s good or bad performance because as human beings we seek an explanation of everything and usually seek out what we think are the easiest answers to things we don’t completely understand.

And all this ties back to the thread topic because getting rid of Enos was the easy answer and people want to think his ouster was the remedy for our diseased program. I don’t doubt that people may feel better now but whether we will ultimately play better because we got rid of a coach underneath our head coach remains to be seen.

In losses, "real fans" want their pound of flesh. Social media heroes we have become...

Enos isn't a terrible OC, at least hasn't been at times in the past. But he was definitely trending down after looking at his last few jobs.

His payday will lighten his heartache however.

I saw a post elsewhere, (NOT VILLE) which basically said, "I'd rather stick with Sam than go out and have this happen all over again with a new Chad, Bert, JLS, etc. and I agree. Give it time rather than suck all over again. If he can do it for offense and keep our D staff. We could be salty.

Again, glass half full dude here. SO, hammer away! lol

true but I’m not asking to be the best in the sec. I’m asking for a 10 win season post bowl game once every 4/5 years and no year below 6 wins. That’s not something you have to have to 15 talent to accomplish. And plenty of coaches and teams with way less talent than we’ve had the passed decade have whipped the dogshit out of us again and again. That’s not because of talent that fcs school keep it within a touchdown of us that’s coaching.

Arkansas had issues with effort last year.

I was at the Missouri State game and I could tell when the players ran out of the tunnel, that something was off.

Arkansas looked deflated and Missouri State went straight for the neck at one point in the first half with a 24-7 lead.

Arkansas needed a fourth quarter rally to avoid a potential 5-7 season.

They played much harder in the first half against the aggies and were about to blow the doors off them in the game.

Then KJ extended the ball five yards from the end zone and hell broke lose. Arkansas played the opposite in the second half and looked as the if they were drunk.

Arkansas played Bama and they played them like they were scared of them as one WR refused to extend his arms to catch a pass on a crucial third down pass as an example.

Arkansas played much better in the third quarter and made a game out of but a sloppy first half was too big of a deficit.

KJ was hurt and didn't play in the state game and pretty much player and fan confidence dropped like a rock.

Arkansas didn't quit and beat a depleted BYU team and an Auburn team that was covered more on TMZ than ESPN.

The Liberty game is where Arkansas was a 14 point favorite. That is when things began turning sour for Pittman. Fans got pissed and many are still irritated about that game.

I was at the game and it was just an awful performance and the team just didn't give a damn. However Liberty did give a damn and jumped on Arkansas with a double digit lead. Arkansas decided to play some football and got back into the game but came up short.

Two weeks later hated Ole Miss comes into town and Arkansas blitzed them in the first half, playing harder than any point during the season.

Missouri was next and Arkansas just looked like complete cow dung and it just felt like you where watching a game with a migraine headache while getting punched in the back of the head.

Sam Pittman learned a valuable lesson in that it doesn't matter if you are playing Alabama or Alabama State, if you play like a horse's arse then you will lose to any team on the schedule. Football is football and these players aren't machines and the so called inferior competition has some athletes as well that can make you look foolish.

So the good thing about this year compared to last year is that you no longer see the lack of effort but just poor decision making by Sam that has been a problem.
