But what stands out the most is confidence

From the perspective of a player I just don’t believe that this type of emotional stuff matters much if at all. Like people get fired up and play better because someone on the other team said something or the classic “they underestimated their opponent and that was the reason they lost or played poorly.” Just no on the emotional stuff. It is about many other things: talent, coaching, execution, having your mind in the game (focus),etc. I just think fans place way too much emphasis on the feel and look of things to try and break down a team’s performance or lack thereof. You can be as confident as you want to be but if you don’t have the talent and can execute with that talent as a well coached team you are rarely going to beat a superior team absent them shooting themselves in the foot. I considered myself good at basketball but even if I work my mind up to believe I’m going to outplay LeBron that most likely isn’t going to happen.

I agree to an extent, however you look at things from a very litigious point of view, it seems. Which is incredible. Evidence driven, thought provoking, but it leaves out the HDN's of the world.

Nutt would often beat teams that he should not have beaten. Teams with superior talent and honestly, coaching. He would "Rah Rah" them to super powers. lol.

They would have fought grizzly bears for that man at times. Then he would lazily lose to a inferior opponent. Crazy times. I remember listening to his pregame speeches. At times he was incredible at getting the most out of his players.. AT TIMES!

Serious question no flame intended, have you ever coached or played at any level beyond Junior high? I can tell you from experience that confidence is one of the most important factors in winning at higher levels. I can't state enough how important it is.

I have seen comments from LSU players saying after losing to Arkansas that we couldn't match the intensity that Arkansas brought on the field back in 2014.
