Is the "offensive line bad" or is "left tackle bad"?

Per PFF, the OL is responsible for 12 of the 31 sacks this season (5 to RBs, 2 to TEs, 12 to the QB - which is it's own issue).

Here is how the 12 sacks breakdown in terms of responsibility

1. Proctor (LT) (7)
2. Pritchett (LT) (3)
3. Roberts (RG) (1)
4. Latham (RT) (1)

10 of the 12 sacks have been given up by LT. The rest of the OL has given up 2 sacks in 7 games.

Per PFF grades (don't love them, but at least give some idea)

LT - Proctor (52.9) / Pritchett (40.1)
LG - Booker (74.3)
C - McLaughlin (50.0)
RG - Dalcourt (78.4) / Roberts (75.1)
RT - Latham (85.6)

McLaughlin also has issues (10 pressures in 217 pass block opportunities), but his are at least slower developing and Jalen can generally shift off his mark and avoid sacks.

If we had just a league average left tackle (Tyler Steen, for instance) I think this would be a good offensive line. But we don't, apparently, and the young guys don't seem to be getting any better on the job.

Does PFF also account for the bad snaps, the inconsistent run blocking and the pressures from missed blocking assignments?

Oh Proctor.

Just sacrifice a TE every play. I’m cool with it.

Also - Tennessee's young kid on the edge, Pearce, is exactly the sort of matchup we've struggled with. Long, bendy, fast edge rushers. If we don't come up with something and execute it that kid is gonna have 5 sacks and 10 pressures.

Thanks for the info.

How many of the 12 QB sacks belong to Milroe? I.e., since Simpson was sacked 5 times vs USF, how many of those were on him?

JM is dead last in the SEC holding the ball nearly 4 seconds before getting it out.

JM also refuses to step up in pocket which hasnt helped, but 74 is not ready.

Its a cluster.

Reads like a left tackle and quarterback problem. Left tackle is getting physically beat some but it comes down to decision making and technique. Quarterback holds the ball and stays in the pocket too long.

Both are fixable but not easy fixes necessarily.

Are we running a lot of 2 TE sets? When we run a single TE and keep him in to block, is he typically off left or right tackle?

I honestly haven't paid much attention. But it could be we either need a TE blocking on that side more often or maybe in a single TE set, he is off RT more often, which skews the # numbers.

No matter how you slice it, it's terrible. Even if some of the sacks are just Milroe not throwing it away and running out of bounds behind the LOS.

Over the last 3 weeks against 3 solid defenses

LT - Kadyn Proctor/Elijah Pritchett (8 sacks, 5 hurries/hits)
LG - Tyler Booker (0 sacks, 4 hurries)
C - Seth McLaughlin (0 sacks, 4 hurries)
RG - Jaedon Roberts/Darrian Dalcourt (0 sacks, 2 hurries)
RT - JC Latham (0 sacks, 1 hurries)

The LT position is a dumpster fire. The other 4 are somewhere between average to excellent.
