Inability to set the edge almost did this team in. Chris Chambliss is pretty effective as a pass rusher but he can't defend wide. I don't know that Kirby can find a solution.

By far the most concerning aspect of the game yesterday
ETA: DBs also had a rough day in run support, which exacerbated the issue.

Bad day for the defense all around.

DBs seem to have regressed greatly in their ability to get off wr screen blocks. Or maybe we don’t have as good of edge and LB so they look worse. Idk. I hope some of it is just getting younger guys more PT. Sorey has been here a while but hasn’t played much. MHJ hasn’t played much. Credit Freeze though. He basically ran their offense yesterday like a 2013 Malzahn offense which is very different than their approach through the first 4 games.

Chris Chambliss was one of the few brothas of his era who didn't snort a shite ton of coke. Really solid player!
And on another note, has Chris Chambliss touched the quarterback this season on a pass rush? Even just a finger?

Chaz is crashing into bodies.
I'm not sure what else he is supposed to do on Counter. His job is to collapse hard and reset the guard.

He did blow up Barn’s fourth try in the RZ.

When Kirby made the comment last week of the defense being "good but not great", I thought it was a motivational tool.
Turns out, he may just being the most open and honest he's ever been as a coach....basically telling us, "I've coached them up and this is what we've got. And it ain't great.".
