The former Michigan State player and assistant coach is an intriguing name to bring up, even though many Spartan fans may find him underwhelming. His one stint as a head coach was at Central Michigan, where he led the Chippewas to three straight seasons of .500 football or better, before leaving to join Arkansas as the offensive coordinator for the first time.

One name I’ve seen floated is Brian Hartline.
I’d suggest him for us but he is currently at Ohio State and other than the NFL as a player has never left Ohio State. He was a receiver at Ohio State, graduate assistant, receiver coach, offensive coordinator.
So I doubt he comes south other than a mercenary and not really knowing which states to recruit from, but he did get all their great receivers lately.

He's a Michigan guy but he's been away from the Midwest for quite some time now. Besides, he may want to hang around Fayetteville to keep his name in the hat should Pittman shuffle off to retirement.
I doubt Michigan State offers him, but if they do, well... the sort of money they'd be willing to pay he'd be a fool not to take the job. That is live in considerable comfort the rest of your life money there.
