They're the top brands in their respective TV markets, if that's what we're discussing.

Hasn't ESPN refused to discuss tv contracts even though we are adding all of this viewership? Seems like we our whittling down a very big stick to nothing but a toothpick.

I keep seeing comments like this.. so this isn’t aimed at just your comment.

I think a lot of people are too focused on the short term vs long term. Unfortunately, Sankey made this same decision with the CBS deal.

The CBS deal was less money.. but it gave the SEC nationwide exposure. It helped create the brand that the SEC is today.

The SEC deal starting in 2024 doesn’t last forever.. so even if it is the same $$ amount before and after adding Texas, Oklahoma, FSU & Clemson.. it will help create brand value and the great exposure that comes from all of those games will create a lot of extra value.

Who knows if this game will exist 50 or 100 years from now.. but you have to make decisions like it will still be played then..

The TV markets will be dominated by the SEC.

Think of the inventory.

Alabama vs Oklahoma
Alabama vs FSU
Alabama vs Texas
Alabama vs Clemson
LSU vs those 4
Georgia vs those 4
Florida vs those 4
etc etc

on top of the already great games..

We should be able to have 2 or more amazing games every week of the year. We may need to add games on Sunday Night or Thursday Night..
but the SEC will be a monster.

Just my opinion. There is plenty of money for everyone. The brand is all that matters now. The money will follow and be significantly more than it is now.

Why would ESPN pay more when they have the SEC over the barrel? Until ESPN's future ownership is more clear, one is only guessing when predicting future revenue.

Texas and Oklahoma alone should have given the league a bump but ESPN does not have the money.
