It's what you replied to. Make your argument better. You think they needed hatred of their opponent in order to compete?

Both of them definitely used it as a major source of motivation. They both talk about it all the time. Doesn’t matter who they lined up against, they built up hate in their minds for whoever.
Cool. This still wasn't their bases for competing. You think they competed more for the hatred of their opponent more than for their drive to help their team? That is the point Hugh is getting at. Worded it pretty gooberishly, but the point he is getting at is his team nor the fans should need any other reason to come out and compete other than their pride in themselves and the team they represent. Fairly silly thing people to be getting bent out of shape over.

If you need a chip on your shoulder to be motivated enough to compete, you aren't truly motivated.

The rivalry took a hated turn. It used to be brother vs brother, you loved them but wanted to kick their arse. Pat Dye, Vince Dooley. Old school respect.

It’s not what I said. Hatred is a tool you use to be the best. I never said anything was anyone’s main motivation.
You said if you need to hate someone to compete, then you aren’t a competitor. Brady and MJ used it every single night. Brady is quoted as saying he would get himself to a point where he was ready to kill the motherfricker on the other sideline.

Complicated question. It’s both at the same time. You’re creating a war in your head. Us vs them.
Maybe it’s not what Freeze meant but he’s making it sound like he doesn’t want the hate of them part of it. You need both.

Again you’re arguing Jordan is not a competitor. He created a chip on his shoulder every single night.
