How do people actually believe A&M would fire Jimbo this year? It's not possible. They are stuck with him for two more years at a minimum.

A&M has money but they're not going to just pay Jimbo 70+ million to not coach on top of another new guaranteed 100 million dollar contract. The optics alone would be terrible.

Both Texas and A&M have boosters with way too much money.. and neither one of them likes to lose to the other one.

This past weekend rattled their cages big time, especially with Texas joining the conference next year. The optics they had going for them have now evaporated.. and unless Jimbo starts winning a lot.. quickly.. they will move on if they can line up someone they want. (Urban, Deion, etc)

The buyout isn’t as bad as it seems.

$20 million within 60’days
then $7 million a year or whatever it is for the rest of the contract, offset by any money he makes at the next stop
(they have to pay this money either way)

The true cost of the buyout is simply the new coaches salary. If they went with a younger guy and gave him incentives, it wouldn’t be that expensive unless they won, then it would be worth it.

They view the next couple of years as crucial to the program.. which is why they bought the class last year, and they appear to be doing it again this year.

The reality is this.
Urban would have this same roster in the playoff next year. Can Jimbo do that? That’s the question that has to be answered.

Personally, I just think he needs a new DC.

Completely agree. $76ish million…he’d be the Jack Welch of college football. I don’t see leadership approving that. He’s got us by the short and curlies.

Jimbo will be fired next year after the Ags lose to Texas.
