Bo Nix offers shocking reason for leaving Auburn
quote:
“This school has changed my life,” Nix said. “This school just gave me an opportunity to be myself again and get out of the spotlight of, ‘You’re playing because your dad played here,’ or ‘You are only doing it because you are an Auburn fan’ or this and that.”
quote:
“But now I can just go do it because I love playing quarterback,” he added.
quote:
It’s obvious that the pressure of being the son of a former Auburn quarterback was getting to Nix and this was a refreshing start for the quarterback.
Also, there were rumors that Nix and former head coach Bryan Harsin didn’t get along very well, which may be another reason why he left.
I basically posted the entire article

I see Chex's post stupidly got 4 upvotes.
A qb of Bo's caliber would've never chose Auburn based on Gus's offense or credentials.

I said many times Bo played to hard to win here. Skill was there, talent was there, athleticism was there. Built in pressure from internal and external was to much for him. He wanted to be the savior of the program when it didn't need a savior just someone to lead. His 3rd season before injury he was much more mature and was playing out of his mind considering who was around him and the staff.
It would be great to have Bo this season but in the end it was best for Bo and for AU. Bo, a healthy Bo, might have saved Byron Haskins job.

I don't think it can be denied Nix made the right decision for himself to leave. If I were him, between Gus and Harsin, I wouldn't have ever come or considered staying either

Scrimpin Gary, feel free to just pass on through here.
Speaking of... this guy could multitask!
The new dimension was developing Auburn's passing attack and transitioning from the wishbone / triple option. And that's center Ben Tamburello who would become a 1986 unanimous All American. He chose AU over bama. Good times. I was 16 and selling programs to get into JHS for free. Dad, Lions Club member, guarded the south endzone TV tower. We got and still have a lot of stadium cups from back in the day. This was a foldout poster in the program from one of the early games that season. It has been on my bedroom ceiling ever since. I've had the T in my sig image since I was 8. It's wHOLeY.
And Dad's (RIP) Auburn jacket. It was a thing in those days. I enjoy going through old Auburn stuff when I can get back home. Lots of special memories.
Anyone remember Bob Hope presenting the AP All American team every year at Christmas? Go to 28:20 and listen to the reception Ben gets, lol. Guess the chicks dug him and / or AU was well-repped as usual by the Fam. Caught both Ben and Bob off guard - watch their reactions. AUsome. The full intro to the team starts at 22:50. Some really good players on that team. And Boz. 1986 All Americans
COMPLETELY FORGOT Brent "Fumblewood" Fullwood was also All American until I watched this. Anyone remember if we ever had 2 AA's in one year? I can't. He and Ben got the loudest receptions by far from the audience = AU Fam was repping. Brent and Bob are surprised again and Bob literally asks him "You got your family out there?" And the answer was "Yes, he did" (my words). Well done Moms and Pops, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents, friends.
ETA Sorry. DUH! 2010 - Cam, Nick and Lee Ziemba were consensus AA's. Any OTHER years of the top of the head?
Here's Bo (Muh man Fridge Perry sighting, lol) in '83 and '85. LINK
Could. Not. Resist. William Perry The Refrigerator Man
The Superbowl Shuffle
1980s football and music was the pinnacle of human civilization. Disagree and I'll hop a plane to Sonic. All ya'll, inside, bar the doors and experience the unfolding chaos .
Sorry, not sorry I got LINK
Year after, when fall comes, I still LINK of college / AU football.

You turned into a fat traitor.
If you just wanted Bo to run for his life all 4 years just to catch the scorn by the Auburn family then you were no supporter.
