You think pointing out one guy was handed the reins of a top 5 team after approximately 7 years as an OC, with only 3 in Power 5 conference and one was a career assistant for 25 years helps your position?

What?

Some people will argue Kiffin is better. Not the majority, but some. Venables was great at Clemson, but Saban is by default the better defensive coach, just with a nicer title than DC. Same with Gary Patterson. Same with Kirby. Brent is behind those guys and Gary isn’t even really in the game.

Hahahaha.....like I said, Venables was WIDELY considered the top defensive mind in college football for many years at Clemson. Brent isn't behind Saban or Kirby Smart in terms of a defensive mind at all.

Gary Patterson hasn't had a top defense in at least 7 years.

Comparing the shite team that Brent put on the field in any way to what Bob did in his first year is one of the least informed statements I’ve seen about OU football.

I was there in 99, fella. Bob had one more season victory than Brent did his first year. Our defense wasn't shite and our offense was just decent.

Just give the guy time. I like Venables. I think OU has something there. But you have to give it time.

Hell, Kentucky's given Mark Stoops how many years ? Including years where the team couldn't cover a receiver outside the numbers, three times, in one season. But that's how it goes. These things take time.

I haven't seen anything to tell me that Venables CAN'T do it. It just takes a few years. I'd stick with him, if I were y'all.

If you can’t follow a thread with multiple posts I can’t help you.

You thinking Brent is on the level of Saban, Smart, and Patterson is showing more ignorance.

It’s a simpleton view to say Bob won one more game than Brent in their first season so they’re comparable, especially for someone “who was there”.

That’s something a ball watcher saws who knows nothing about what is going on all over the field. Bob took over a team with a losing culture, not to mention losing records, who couldn’t get 11 guys on the field to punt without a fricking twister mat on the sidelines and turned it into a hard nosed winning team with discipline and pride. BV did nothing of the sort. He did the fricking complete opposite.

2019 LSU was about as embarrassing as it could get for OU. Then Brent captained that shitshow in the Cotton Bowl last year that looked like a John Blake team.

I like Brent. I think he’s a good coach. We have mutual friends. I thought he could be a good hire. He has shockingly been unprepared for the administrative part of the job, making questionable hires on and off the field, with poor media exchanges, and poor on field performance. The team needs to make a big step this year or BV may be gone after 4 years of mediocre results.
