I haven't even read up on what's going on and can feel this being a shite joke

Something definitely doesn’t smell right…Oher listening to the wrong people.

Did the Toughys use him, yes. He was already a 5-star prospect, with every HS in Memphis after him, when they came across him.
Did Oher benefit, yes.
Had he not been a 5-star athlete, would they have taken him in? Who knows?
He probably wasn't happy with the way they portrayed him in the film and that ate at him. It was his life story and he didn't directly financially benefit much from it.

Yep, the money the family, and Oher(equal share), that they received from the movie pales in comparison with Tuohy's net worth.
Oher has a scumbag lawyer and shady people giving him advice for this typical shakedown.
His adviser, "we will threaten to drag them through the mud and they will roll over".
Tuohy, "Fck you. Let's play."
Oher, "Oh sheeeeitt!"

Ridiculous, he had years to do this.
This is a money grab.

I think the biggest issue is that the Tuohys lied to him.
That would be a tough pill to swallow from people you thought were your family and a woman you called "mom".
It would also be a reason to hire a lawyer and look to damage their reputation (which was built up in the movie about he and Leigh Anne).

They portrayed him as borderline retarded. The author of the book made up facts to sell Oher as a poor ghetto kid that was dumb. I think Michael Lewis also made fun of Ole Miss for offering him.
I read a few articles, and the truth seems to be in the middle. I think a lot of guys on here already picked a side tho.

His lawyer states (shockingly) they never adopted Michael - he was merely put under a conservatorship. Tuohy's countered this was due to not being able to adopt over the age of 18, and it never changed their relationship.
Tuohy's also state income from book deal and movie was split evenly among every member of the house... and Tuohy's paid Oher's taxes for him. This totaled less than $150k per family member -- ($100k movie + $40k book rights).
Oher made $34 million in the NFL and is probably broke, being given bad legal counsel, etc.
I side with the Tuohy's, not that it matters.

People who were abandoned as children, demand loyalty from people, and refuse to give loyalty in return

It starts in his 2011 book.
The Tuohys told Oher that they could not adopt him because he was 18 (not true).
The Tuohys told Oher that a conservatorship was the same thing as adoption for someone over 18 (not true).
The Tuohys told Oher that the conservatorship made him an official part of the family (not true).

How about this; Oher is just being a bad person.

It sounds like Oher was pretty damned loyal for about 5 years. He thought they were family. He did what the Tuohys and their lawyers asked him to do and swallowed their "explanations" whole.
Once he felt betrayed by the lying (5 years later), you see a different side.
I personally don't blame him.
I was raised that you don't frick with family. Family is a bond that is stronger than anything.
Someone raised that way is disgusted with the mendacity that comes with taking advantage of a kid (oher hadn't started his senior year of high school yet) under the guise of love and family.

Nope.
He was enrolled into Briarcrest his sophomore year. He was declared a 5 star after his junior year there. He joined the Tuohy's around the beginning of his senior year.

He was a 5 star when they took him into their home permanently.
That is what I've read.
He wasn't homeless in so far as he was in the street. He met the legal definition of homeless because he had 5 families at the school that all took care of him (no permanent address).

You're a sucker for the corrupt media. Why is it being laid out like the Tuohy's were bad people for not completely committing to a full adoption?
They helped the kid like crazy, and the woke arse media doesn't give a shite, they just want another divide and conquer story to stir shite between white people and black people.

Why is that a knock on traditional media (don't get me wrong... the media sucks. But this isn't an example of that).
Oher explains things as they were explained to him.
And like an onion, layer by layer he finds false statements from the Tuohys.
Lots of people helped Oher.
Did all of them lie to him also?
Did all of them get media publicity from Oher?
