Probably good for society in the long term. Playing sports in high school and younger is one thing, but after that we should encourage people to get going.

Horrible take. How does playing sports preclude someone from “getting going?”

Most small sport athletes already know they have no pro future. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t have the opportunity to further refine the skills of discipline, commitment, teamwork, and physical prowess while in college.

Not every job in the world necessitates being a desk jockey
